Norwegian journalists have prepared a handbook for the upcoming World Football Championship in Russia, which contains a number of stereotypes about the country and does not show it in the best light, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said on 23 May during a traditional briefing.
«The key principle of this directory is barbed wire opposite the stadiums. Journalists should have an objective look. Why should we carry out such propaganda activities? This is also financed by public funds. All this is distributed to journalists under the guise of reference literature on the upcoming event,» the representative of the diplomatic mission said.
«We expect that the common sense of journalists will prevail, and citizens of foreign countries will be able to get the correct information about the upcoming mundiale,» she said.
Zakharova added that such a situation can turn into plus, when people come to Russia and make sure that there is no barbed wire around the stadiums.
