US accusations of organizing «Nest of Spies» based of the Russian-Serbian humanitarian center in the city of Nis were denied by a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova. Some officials in the United States expressed the opinion that such a neighborhood is threatened by a contingent of the North Atlantic Alliance in Kosovo.
Zakharova advised the US State Department staff to take a map and see where Kosovo is and where Nis is.
«The center is registered as an international organization,» the representative of the Foreign Ministry said, adding that its staff helped cope with emergencies in a number of countries.
The American ambassador in Belgrade was repeatedly invited to come to the Center, but he refused. Zakharova stressed that that makes sense, because after the visit it will be impossible to come up with fake messages.
The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked how four EMERCOM employees, several fire engines and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia could pose a threat to the security of 600 US soldiers based in Kosovo. After all, this is 150 km from the center.
Zakharova urged Washington to stop speculation. Do not look for spies where they are not. Once again, she invited the US representatives to the Russian-Serbian center.
