Statements from the UK that Russia is allegedly carrying out «systematic cyberattacks» are not justified, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
«There is another provocative and unsubstantiated attack on Russia without any attempt to clarify the situation in contacts with the Russian side. In the replicated speculations we see nothing more than the British’s deliberate evasion of any kind of dialogue with us on this topic,» she noted.
According to the representative of the diplomatic mission, attempts by Russia to conduct bilateral interdepartmental consultations occured, but the British did not go on meeting them.
«We demand from the British side to provide the information that was available to us to support the allegations made. By the way, on this occasion, our Embassy in London sent a note to the official request to the Foreign Office. An answer to it has not yet been received,» Zakharova stated.
She admitted that in this way the country’s leadership, against the backdrop of an imaginary cyberthreat, is preparing the country for a positive perception of a probable cyberattack from London, which will be considered as a response.
