The Russian outbound tourism increased by 28.9% in the first half of the year. 17,119 million tourists went abroad — for comparison, last year this figure was 13.280 million people, ATOR reports.
This statistics also includes data on the countries of the near abroad, which, as a rule, do not enter the popular tourist destinations.
According to Rosstat, the top five countries included Abkhazia, Turkey, Finland, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. By the way, Abkhazia was in the first place and amounted to 1.668 million trips last year.
1.632 million Russian citizens flew to Turkey, and 1.54 million Russian citizens visited Finland.
In addition, the top ten destinations included China, Estonia, Poland, Germany and Thailand.
Turkey (8.78 times), Dominican Republic (3.23 times), Cuba (2 times), Czech Republic (1.56 times), Vietnam and the UAE (1, 49 times) were leaders in the dynamics of tourist flow in the first half of the year.
However, there is an increase in attendance also in European destinations: Italy, Spain, Greece, France, Czech Republic, Israel, Britain, Cyprus and Austria.
