The Criminal Investigation Department of Russia opened criminal cases against 20 high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Collecting the evidence, the committee documented dozens of facts of crimes against the Russian-speaking population of Donbass. This is reported on Monday by the official representative of the Sledcom Svetlana Petrenko.
According to her, the systematic nature of the crimes suggests that the organizers are officials of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Among them are the head of the Ukrainian department Stepan Poltorak, the deputies Oleg Rusnak, Ivan Shevchuk, Igor Pavlovsky, Alexander Dublyan, the Chief of the General Staff Viktor Muzhenko, as well as a number of first deputy and deputy Igor Kolesnik, Sergei Bessarab and Vladimir Khizhego, officials in charge of intelligence, ground forces and air forces.
The investigation believes that from 2016 to 2017, the defendants gave knowingly criminal orders to the soldiers of the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine to conduct targeted artillery shelling from heavy weapons at civilian objects in the settlements of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. These actions are evidence of hatred for the Russian-speaking population living in the Donbass. It is known that 110 civilians became victims of shelling. There are 430 local residents among the wounded. Moreover, more than 1,2 thousand objects were destroyed as a result of shelling.
«In the near future, with regard to the defendants of the criminal case, decisions will be made on bringing in as defendants, after that they will be put on the wanted list,» Petrenko stressed and added that the collection of evidence is continued.
