This year, the trade turnover between India and Russia shows steady growth — this trend needs to be maintained, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted during a meeting in the city of Xiamen on the sidelines of with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
According to the Russian leader, the fruits of regular interactions, both personal and at the level of various ministries, are well marked:
«While last year we observed a certain decline in our trade relations – minus 1.6 percent, in the first six months of this year, we observe considerable growth – almost 22 percent, 21.9 percent. It goes without saying that we should preserve this positive trend», Putin said.
He also expressed gratitude to the head of the Indian state for the participation of his delegation in the forthcoming Eastern Economic Forum.
Modi also expressed satisfaction to the Russian President for the steps taken to improve the dialogue between the two countries:
«I understood how we can work together to raise the level of our relations, and how under your leadership we can work together, discuss the economic situation in the world and bring it to a new level,» the head of India summed up.
