Russian leader Vladimir Putin predicted a change in the new energy picture. This statement was made today during the plenary session of the forum «Russian Energy Week» in Moscow.
According to him, in 20 years the planet’s population will consume 30% more energy, and the geography and structure of demand for such a resource will shift to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
«The leading role in the energy balance of the 21st century will be played by hydrocarbons in the next 20-25 years, especially when a number of countries voluntarily limit the development of nuclear power generation,» Putin said.
He also added that almost all developed countries have taken a course on the development of clean energy, including renewable sources.
«They account for more than half of all generation capacities in the world. By 2035, their share in the world energy needs to rise from 15% to 23%, and in the generation of electric power (excluding hydro) — with the current 7 «to 20%» — added president.
