Russian leader Vladimir Putin does not believe in the involvement of Syrian President Bashar Assad in the use of chemical weapons in the region. The head of the Russian Federation voiced his point of view in an interview for the French newspaper Le Figaro. The politician reminded journalists that the Russian side publicly called on American partners who were accusing the government of the SAR in the incident, to conduct an expertise an aerodrome, from where aircraft with weapons on board were allegedly launched, as well as air raids. Putin stressed that traces of chemical weapons would inevitably remain, and modern technology would easily fix them if they were there. However, the Americans voiced a refusal, which was motivated by the increased level of danger in the region. Such a line of conduct the Russian president considered an unconvincing attempt by Washington to justify an air raid on government troops in April this year. «There is no evidence of Assad’s use of chemical weapons. We strongly believe tha, this is just a provocation: Assad did not use this weapon» Putin said.
