Member of the Federation Council Alexey Pushkov surprised by attempts to whitewash the Russophobia of the deceased former adviser to US President Zbigniew Brzezinski. In particular, the society is rhetoric that he was against the Soviet Union, but not against Russia. In turn, the senator recalls the true motives of the «chess player».
«He saw in Russia an obstacle to US hegemony,» Pushkov wrote on his microblog.
Let’s remind, a native of Poland and an American politician Brzezinski died at the age of 89. He’s gone on 26 May, but the talk about his person does not subside today. It is worth noting that he worked as an adviser to the 39th US President Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981. During his lifetime he proudly told that he was one of the founders of the concept of involving the USSR in a full-scale military conflict with third countries. He has also written the strategy of NATO expansion to the east.
«The Russians are caught in an Afghan trap, but do you want me to regret? What is more important for world history? Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet Empire? «- Brzezinski is quoted in one of his interviews.
Brzezinski has died, but his work of anti-Soviet and Russophobic orientation still lives. Including in his book «The Great Chess Board: the Domination of America and its Geostrategic Imperatives».
