Russia and the EU entered the phase of «conflict dialogue». Such a statement was made by a Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Aleksey Pushkov on Tuesday. This conclusion was made by the senator after the talks of the leader of the Russian Federation with the new president of France, and also after a meeting with the Chancellor of Germany in early May.
«There is a dialogue, but there is no progress towards agreement,» Pushkov notes.
It should be reminded that the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and French leader Emmanuel Macron took place the day before. The Russian president flew to Paris at the invitation of his colleague. At the press conference Macron explained that the official Paris set priorities on the Syrian issue in the discussion with Moscow. As for Syria the French head of State expressed his hope for an early meeting in the «Norman format» on the implementation of the Minsk Agreements. The problem of gays in Chechnya was not spared .
In turn, the Russian leader called the fundamental interests of France and Russia more important than the current political conjuncture.
Putin’s meeting with the German Chancellor was held earlier this month. Range of issues is about the same: Syria, Ukraine, LGBT community, bilateral relations.
