The member of the Federation Council Alexey Pushkov called one of the islands in Thailand a zone of risk. The senator voiced such a disappointing conclusion today after the sensational story of the death of 30-year-old Belgian tourist Eliza Dalman. Mysterious death of the woman became the seventh in a series of mysterious events in Koh Tao in three years.
Let’s remind, Eliza was found in the jungles of the island. The police classified the incident as suicide, despite the fact that the body of the girl was wrapped in a piece of old cloth, and next to her was a canister with fuel. The impetus to the investigation was the statement of the girl’s mother, who told about her daughter’s plans to return home after a two-year journey. Women called up on the eve of a mysterious disappearance.
Another story is not disclosed crime — the death of a Russian woman. She disappeared in February of this year under strange circumstances. In the room of the hotel where she stayed, there were her passport, camera, mobile phone and a ferry ticket to Samui. On the day of the disappearance, the surveillance cameras recorded how our compatriot was walking with the flippers toward the beach (she was fond of freediving). The hotel claims that, after returning from the beach, she was interested in the schedule of ferry traffic. Until now, nothing is known about its location.
Over the past three years on the island the bodies of five more European tourists were found. The circumstances of their discovery spoke of the violent nature of death, which was contrary to the police data.
