The meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-un can take place, details would be discussed, the spokesman of the Russian head of state Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
«Indeed, such a meeting can take place, its modalities and time will be coordinated through diplomatic channels. The option of meeting in the near future in Beijing is not discussed,» Peskov said.
On the eve, on 31 May, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with the leader of North Korea. The minister noted that Vladimir Putin conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes to the DPRK leader. Lavrov stressed that Moscow positively assessed the Pangmunjom Declaration, which Kim Jong-un signed with the President of the Republic of Korea. Earlier, he held talks with Foreign Minister Li Yong-ho. The diplomats discussed bilateral relations, the situation around the Korean peninsula and some other international issues.
