Russian President Vladimir Putin is aware of the court’s decision to block Telegtam. Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the head of state, told journalists on Wednesday.
«The issue is rather governmental, but, of course, the president is aware of the decision that the court has ruled on the blockage,» the spokesman said.
On 16 April, Roskomnadzor started blocking Telegram on the territory of Russia. On 13 April, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow granted an action for the immediate blocking of the messenger in the Russian Federation, which earlier refused to hand over the encryption key to the FSB. In addition, Roskomnadzor announced its intention to restrict access to Internet resources that contribute to its work.
In order to limit the possibility of circumventing the blocking of the messenger, Roskomnadzor blocked several million IP-addresses within a day, including those belonging to Amazon and Google. This has led to the failure of a large number of Internet resources.
The founder of Telegram Pavel Durov said that he was ready to pay millions of dollars of his own money as grants for proxy and VPN administrators against the background of a blocked messenger in Russia.
