Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expects that the US will not act with North Korea in the same way that it used to be in Syria. The diplomat said this at a press conference at the end of the meeting with his colleague from Senegal Manker Ndyai.
The head of the Russian diplomatic mission, by responding to the words of US Vice-President Mike Pens that the period of strategic patience of the country’s leadership regarding the DPRK is ending. He noted that the Americans had previously acted with the North Koreans «quite harshly», limiting their economic potential. The option with armed intervention, if it is implied, is assessed by Lavrov as a «very risky way».
«I hope very much that there will not be unilateral actions, like those that we had seen recently in Syria, and that the US will follow the line that President Trump repeatedly voiced during his election campaign», — he concluded.
It should be reminded that in Syria, the US troops fired about 60 missiles at the aviation base of the Government forces. Then nine civilians were killed. The leadership of the country explained the decision by the chemical attack Khimatka, conducted by the troops of Bashar Assad, the fact of implementation of which has not been proved yet.
