The OPCW mission came to the conclusion that on 16 September last year, in the Syrian city of Umm Hawsh during the attack mustard gas was used. A similar situation, but with the use of sarin or a similar substance, occurred on 4 April this year in Khan Shaykhun.
Thus, in the first case a substance was used for blistering and in the second case — a nerve agent.
Under Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Izumi Nakamitsu believes that the organization should not stand aside of the problem, calling things by their own names.
It should be reminded, on 7 April US troops reacted to the report on the chemical attack and released 59 missiles at the base of the SAR army, which led to human casualties. In Russia, on the contrary, it is believed that before the attack there was no any investigation conducted and there is still no convincing evidence of the use of chemical weapons by government troops.
