On the highway section of the Crimean bridge, which will be placed in operation in December 2018, the builders began installing shock-transmitters. These devices additionally protect the bridge structures from seismic action. According to the project, the bridge will stand in a 9-point earthquake, the press service of Rosavtodor reported on Monday.

Shock-transmitters are placed between the supports and spans of the bridge. The device provides a rigid connection of structures with short-term impacts, which can be caused by seismic or other dynamic loads.

«They allow the span of the bridge to» breathe «, that is, it is free to move with unobtrusive movements caused by temperature conditions. And during the earthquake, shock transmitters work and distribute the seismic load evenly along the supports, » technical director of the Giprostroimost-St. Petersburg Institute Igor Kolyushev said .

Shock-transmitters, perceiving loads of 850 and 1500 kN., are installed on the Crimean bridge. Over 760 devices will be installed on the road section.

On the railway section of the bridge is another anti-seismic fastening of spans. It is provided for by performing stationary and linearly movable support parts, so that during an earthquake, seismic forces are transferred to intermediate supports.

Before the development of the project, detailed engineering studies were carried out, which allowed to significantly expand the knowledge base on seismic activity in the Kerch-Taman region.

Earlier, the pilot section of the Crimean bridge was equipped with barrier fencing and lighting masts. In two directions, a total of 1,800 running meters of barrier fencing and 28 lighting masts have been installed on both sides of the bridge. On this site, the validity of the quality of work and functionality will be checked, which in the future will be transferred to the entire length of the bridge.

At the end of December, Rosavtodor was informed of the completion of the bridge spans for the road. The thread of metal structures exceeds 100 thousand tons.

The name «Crimean bridge» was received by the citizens of Russia. This option was preferred by 64% of citizens. The name will become official and appear on road information signs and topographic maps.

The agreement on the construction of the bridge across the Kerch Strait was signed between Russia and Ukraine on 17 December, 2013. In March 2014, Vladimir Putin set the task to build a bridge in the automotive and railway versions.

Beginning of vehicles on the bridge is scheduled for December 2018.
